Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after driving at officer, police say

A 68-year-old man was arrested Saturday for investigation of attempted murder after police said he tried to run over an officer in Waipahu.

The man fled from a minor theft complaint about 8:50 a.m. Saturday and later tried to run over the on-duty police officer, police said. The officer was not hurt.

Police arrested the suspect at 9:30 a.m. at Farrington Highway and Pupukahi Street. He was booked for investigation of first-degree attempted murder, resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, and fourth-degree theft.
