The tree is scheduled for installation at Kapolei Hale on Thursday. The Kapolei City Lights celebration opens on Dec. 9.

The city is removing an 80-foot pine tree from Waikiki in preparation for Kapolei City Lights this morning.

Crews are removing the tree from a future park site at Aloha Drive and Royal Hawaiian Avenue until noon today, resulting in the restriction of public parking stalls in the area. Stalls on Seaside Avenue will not be affected.

The tree is scheduled for installation at Kapolei Hale on Thursday, on the mauka-side lawn along Uluohia Street.

The Kapolei City Lights celebration opens on Saturday, Dec. 9. More information is available from the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts, 768-6622.
