The Honolulu Museum of Art Cafe is now open for Sunday brunch.
On the menu are Benedicts, omelets, waffles, steak and eggs, sandwiches and salads, plus shakshouka (Moroccan eggs), priced at $15 to $19. A selection of morning cocktails is also offered.
Chef Jacob Silver also has updated the cafe’s daily lunch menu, adding favorites from specials he’s tried out over the last few months.
New are entrees such as chimichurri-topped salmon with farro salad and French entrecote Bordelaise (New York strip steak in shallot-red-wine sauce and polenta). Entree prices top out at $26.
Cafe hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, with seating times every 15 minutes.
Reservations are crucial; call 532-8734. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except Mondays.
POLICE OFFICERS BUS TABLES IN NAME OF CHARITY
Off-duty law enforcement officers will tie on aprons and tend to restaurant customers from Dec. 8 to 10 during the annual Tip a Cop campaign, a benefit for Special Olympics Hawai‘i.
The officers will volunteer for shifts at Ward Village and Ka Makana Ali‘i restaurants to earn tips that will go toward the organization, which provides free, year-round athletic programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
In the 27 years since Ward Village has participated in the campaign, Tip a Cop has raised $276,771.

If it’s just not Christmas for you without gingerbread, you’ll want to head to the Mele Kalikimaka Marketplace and Gingerbread Workshop Dec. 9 and 10 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
Held in the midst of the marketplace, which offers a wide selection of gifts and goods, the workshop will put families to work on gingerbread houses. Cost is $40, which includes admission for two to the marketplace and one gingerbread house to make and take home. Proceeds benefit Kama‘aina Kids.
Sessions are 10:30 a.m. to noon, 1:30 to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 9; repeats on Dec. 10 except that there will be no 4:30 p.m. session. Reservations are required via MeleKalikimakaMarketplace.com.
