Chaminade guard Austin Pope has been named the Pacific West men’s basketball player of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Pope, a senior from Burbank, Calif., had 12 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in a 96-72 victory over California at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational on Wednesday.
On Sunday, Pope had 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in an 85-81 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Hawaii Hilo volleyball signs 4 players
The Hawaii Hilo volleyball team has received National Letters of Intent from four players during the early signing period, Vulcans coach Gene Krieger announced Monday.
The players, who will join the team next fall, are Alexandria Parisian, Maile Powell, Taira Kaawaloa and Kyla Militante-Amper.
Parisian is a 6-foot-1 opposite from Apple Valley High School (Calif.). Powell is a 5-10 setter from Leland High School in Laguna Hills, Calif. Kaawaloa, a University High graduate, is a 5-8 outside hitter from Irvine Valley College. Militante-Amper is a 5-3 libero from Alaska Anchorage.
