University of Hawaii football player Dejon Allen has accepted an invitation to play in the 2018 East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., agent Kenny Zuckerman told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser today.
Allen, who is 6 feet 3 and 295 pounds, completed his UH eligibility at the end of this past Saturday’s loss to Brigham Young at Aloha Stadium.
Allen also received an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in the Rose Bowl.
Both all-star games will be played on Jan. 20, 2018.
Zuckerman said Allen decided to choose the East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be played at Tropicana Field and televised on the NFL Network. The bowl will choose which NFL assistants will be selected as coaches following the conclusion of the league’s regular season.
Allen played 50 games during his UH career. The first two seasons he played guard before shifting to left tackle during the 2016 spring training. Although he projects to play guard or center in the NFL, his 34-inch reach also would enable him to continue playing tackle.
