Bengals top Rainbow Wahine in OT
The Hawaii women’s basketball team got a career-high 27 points from Sarah Toeaina but not enough otherwise in a 64-62 loss to Idaho State tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH (5-4) rallied from nine down in the fourth quarter to force the extra period in front of 656 people on Kenna Woodfolk’s post move with 1:20 left. Neither team made good on chances to win it at the end of regulation.
ISU (6-3) scored the first six points of OT and held off a Toeaina-led rally by UH. Bengals forward Sai Tapasa grabbed a couple of key offensive rebounds on missed free throws in the final seconds to secure the outcome.
Toeaina shot 9-for-14 from the field. Lahni Salanoa added 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting.
Guard Brooke Blair led ISU of the Big Sky with 20 points, while Tapasa added 17 points and 13 rebounds.
ISU blocked Rachel Odumu’s tying 3-point attempt going into the half and led 29-26.
