Olympic medalists Clarissa Chun and Clay Stanley, two-time Major League All-Star Shane Victorino and Dean Wilson, a winner on the PGA Tour, comprise the 2018 inductees for the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame.
They will be honored at the May 8 induction banquet at Honolulu Country Club. Previous inductees are celebrated in an exhibition at Aloha Stadium.
Chun, a Roosevelt High graduate, won a bronze medal in wrestling at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She also placed fifth in the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Chun spent 15 years on the U. S. National Team between 2000 and 2017 and also medaled in the Pan American Games.
Stanley, a Kaiser High graduate and University of Hawaii alum, appeared in three Olympiads for the U.S., including the gold medal 2008 squad. He was the team’s leading scorer in the 2004 Games in Athens and was the most valuable player, top scorer and leading server in 2008.
Stanley, who played professionally in Europe, announced his retirement in 2016.
Victorino, a St. Anthony graduate, played 12 seasons in MLB with the Dodgers, Padres, Phillies, Red Sox and Angels.
He played on the 2008 Philadelphia and 2013 Red Sox World Series championship teams and appeared in the 2009 and ’11 All-Star Games. A four-time Gold Glove Award winner, Victorino was also honored for exceptional charitable and community contributions by his Shane Victorino Foundation with the 2008 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award and 2011 Branch Rickey Award.
Wilson won the PGA Tour’s International at Castle Rock, Colo., in 2006 and finished second at the Valero Texas Open.
Over the space of 13 years he played in 262 PGA Tour events, winning nearly $9 million.
A graduate of Kailua High, he played collegiately at Brigham Young-Hawaii and BYU before embarking on the U.S. Buy.Com, Australia, Japan, Asian and Canadian tours.
