The Hawaii Pacific athletic department announced three individuals and one team will join the school’s Hall of Fame on Feb. 20.
Men’s soccer player Cesar Jube, men’s tennis player and coach Stefan Pampulov, men’s basketball player John Strickland and the 1990 women’s volleyball team that won the NAIA national championship will comprise HPU’s seventh Hall of Fame class.
Jube was the first soccer All-American at Hawaii Pacific, earning the honor twice. The Brazil native scored 52 goals during his career at HPU, leading the Sea Warriors to the NAIA Far West Regional and a 17-2-1 record in 1996.
Pampulov competed for the Sea Warriors from 1999 to 2003, earning All-America honors in 2000. He also guided HPU to NCAA Division II runner-up finishes in 2000, 2001 and 2003. He became the men’s and women’s head coach in 2006, leading both programs to the national semifinals before stepping down in 2011.
The late Strickland earned All-America honors twice, leading HPU to NAIA national tournament appearances in 1994 and 1995. His 805 points and 393 rebounds as a junior during the 1993-94 season are still school records.
The 1990 women’s volleyball team finished with a 23-7 record with a four-set victory over Texas Wesleyan in the title match. Gabriela Artigas took home MVP honors during the tournament.
