Pair arrested for allegedly possessing chicken-fighting tools

Police arrested two men for possession of chicken-fighting instruments Saturday in Waianae.

The men, age 21 and 33, were arrested at 87-1029 Hakimo Road at about 11:20 a.m. and cited with possession of a prohibited gaff or slasher, according to police arrest logs.

It is illegal to have gaffs, slashers, or other sharp instruments designed to be attached to a gamecock or other fighting fowl in Honolulu, according to city ordinances.

The men were released after posting $500 bail.
