    Gerard Aki

Police arrested a man who was charged with sexual assault involving a minor.

Gerard Aki, described to be in his mid-to-late 50s, turned himself in at the main police station Monday morning where he was arrested on a $75,000 bench warrant. The warrant was issued by an Oahu grand jury in December after they returned an indictment charging Aki with third-degree sexual assault.

His arraignment is scheduled to be held Monday at Circuit Court before Judge Colette Garibaldi. He remains in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The alleged assault occurred in March 2016 involving a girl younger than 14, according to a court document. Police arrested Aki in April in connection with the case. He was released at that time, pending further investigation.
