Flood advisory canceled for Oahu

A series of radar images show areas of moisture moving over Oahu and Kauai.

A flood advisory for Oahu was canceled tonight shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Radar this evening indicated heavy rain over Oahu. The heaviest rainfall was in central Oahu with rain falling at a rate of one to two inches per hour.

Meanwhile, Kauai and Niihau are under a flash flood watch through Sunday afternoon. An unstable airmass over the islands will continue the chance for flooding through the weekend.

A high surf warning for the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, the north-facing shores of Maui, and the west-facing shores of Hawaii island is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.

A new and large northwest swell is expected to arrive this evening.

Surf along the north and west shores of Niihau and Kauai, and the north shores of Oahu, Molokai, and Maui, is expected to be 20 to 30 feet. Surf along the west shores of Oahu and Molokai, is expected to be 15 to 20 feet.
