State, county and Coast Guard crews plan to resume the search off of Kauai’s north shore today for 25-year-old fisherman Preston Ikehara-Yasay of Kapaa, who has been missing since Wednesday.

Hanalei firefighters began searching for Ikehara-Yasay after 6 p.m. Wednesday after witnesses spotted an unresponsive man in waters near Kauapea Beach, in Kalihiwai, Kauai County officials said.

The search has included Kauai County lifeguards and firefighters on personal watercraft and helicopters from Kauai’s Fire Department and the Coast Guard. Officers from the Kauai Police Department and state Department of Land and Natural Resources and volunteers joined the search on Thursday.

All of the agencies were expected to resume their search today, Kauai officials said.
