Ahuimanu Elementary School in Kaneohe was put on lockdown for about an hour this afternoon after a man who had stolen a car was seen running through the area, according to a police source.

A Department of Education spokeswoman confirmed that the school was on lockdown from 1:35 p.m. to 2:23 p.m., when the all-clear was issued.

The police officer said the man was being pursued by police and is no longer in the area near the school.
