Motorcyclist dies after Moiliili crash

A 50-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing into an automobile Saturday night along Kapiolani Boulevard in Moiliili, police said.

The man was trying to overtake a vehicle in the Diamond Head-bound lanes when he sideswiped another vehicle turning right into the Marco Polo condominium, police said.

The motorcyclist was ejected and hit a curb. He was not wearing a helmet.

Police said he was taken in critical condition to a hospital where he died.

The crash, which happened at about 11 p.m., was the 13th traffic fatality this year, compared to seven at this time last year.
