The Huskers (3-12) went 0-8 during their Oahu stay, winning just six individual duals, five against No. 12 Grand Canyon. Four came during last weekend’s Outrigger Resorts Invitational when Nebraska lost twice to No. 12 Grand Canyon 3-2; the other came in Monday’s 4-1 loss to the Lopes.
Hawaii had already clinched the match 3-0 when Nebraska picked up its first point against the SandBows in three matches at Flight 2. Annika Albrecht-Kenzie Maloney rallied past Carly Kan-Laurel Weaver, 17-21, 25-23, 15-13.
A new pair of Morgan Martin and Chloe Luyties clinched the dual for Hawaii at Flight 3. Martin’s regular partner, freshman Lea Monkhouse, was in her native Canada trying out for the World University Games team.
Hawaii is on the road for the next two weeks, first at the Gamecock Challenge hosted by South Carolina Saturday and Sunday. The SandBows are then at the Big West Challenge, March 30-31, at Sacramento State.
