Logan Pouelsen provided clutch hitting and key pitching in the Hawaii baseball team’s 4-3 victory over UC Irvine today at Anteater Ballpark in Irvine, Calif.

Pouelsen had three extra-base hits — two doubles and a triple — and scored the go-ahead run on Kekai Rios’ single in the seventh inning. Pouelsen also pitched three hitless innings of relief to earn the victory. Dylan Thomas pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.

In taking their conference opener, the ’Bows won for the first time in Irvine since joining the Big West in 2013 and improved to 15-8 and 1-0. The Anteaters are 13-11 and 0-1.
