S&S Thai Kitchen started out as a food truck, then opened a stall in Shirokiya Japan Village Walk in Ala Moana Center.
S&S now has a shop in Waikiki, at Canterbury Place, 1910 Ala Moana Blvd., serving Thai and Laotian specialties made with produce from the S&S family farm in Kahuku.
S&S says it does not use food additives such as MSG, and 70 percent of its vegetables are organic.
Specialties include Tom Yum with Handmade Noodle Soup, with tapioca rice noodles, and Khao Poun, a Laotian noodle soup with coconut milk.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. Call 773-7218.
ROY’S 30TH CELEBRATION CONTINUES
The yearlong celebration of the 30th anniversary of Roy Yamaguchi’s Hawaii restaurants continues with a “Westside Connection” benefit event, 6 to 9 p.m April 18.
Yamaguchi will cook alongside other chefs in the Roy’s group as well as guest chefs from the west side, including Michael Mina of Fish House at the Four Seasons Ko Olina.
Tickets are $88, in honor of the year the first Roy’s opened in Hawaii Kai, 1988. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Leeward Community College culinary program.

MONTHLY WINE SERIES OPENS
BLT Market is introducing a monthly series of wine tastings, “Wines over Waikiki.”
The sessions, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning this week, are timed to give participants a view of Waikiki’s Friday night fireworks.
Sessions include a discussion, samples of wines and appetizers paired to the wines.

STUDY UP ON SPIRITS AT THE MODERN
The Study at the Modern Honolulu is hosting a night with mixologist Tim Rita of E&J Gallo Spirits from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In this free “Study Hall” session, Rita will share cocktail-making tips and talk about differences in liquors. The bar will feature Rita’s craft cocktails using E&J spirits, including New Amsterdam Vodka, on special all night.

GALA DINNER HONORS BOWIE
Ballet Hawaii’s benefit dinner Saturday at the Pacific Club honors the late David Bowie.
Host chef Eric Leterc will be cooking alongside chefs Shaymus Alwin, Chai Chaowasaree, Robynne Maii, Ed Kenney and Michelle Karr-Ueoka.
“Star Dust” will include music and dancing, with guests encouraged to put on their red shoes and dress in their casual “Bowie best.”
