Police arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly stole an item from a store and injured a security guard who tried to stop him in Ewa Beach.
Police said the suspect was observed taking the unspecified item at Longs Drugs and leaving the store without paying for it at about 10:40 p.m. Monday.
The store manager alerted security personnel at the shopping center. When a security guard attempted to stop the culprit, police said, the suspect used force against him, and the guard sustained a fracture in his left wrist. The assailant fled the scene.
Police located the suspect and arrested him shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Teen arrested for alleged robbery of boy, 12
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a January robbery in Mililani.
Police said the suspect approached a 12-year-old boy and wielded an unspecified weapon at him at about 10 a.m. Jan. 15. He demanded money and property from the victim before he fled.
Police located the teen in the Wahiawa area Monday and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
Man charged in Mapunapuna robbery
Prosecutors have charged a 37-year-old man in connection with a robbery in Mapunapuna.
Daniel T.K. Holcombe was charged with second-degree robbery. His bail has been set at $25,000.
Police said a suspect later identified as Holcombe confronted a 67-year-old man and demanded his property at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. When the victim refused, Holcombe allegedly used physical force to take his property.
A struggle ensued, but the victim broke free and called police.
Police arrested Holcombe near the scene on suspicion of second-degree robbery and two outstanding warrants.
Police seeking help in locating stolen rocks
Hawaii County police are looking for the person or persons who took green rock bags Feb. 13 from an asphalt pile in Kau.
The bags of rocks were placed around the asphalt pile as a safety precaution near the 56-mile marker on Highway 11, police said.

Missing furlough inmate arrested on Big Isle
Hawaii County police arrested a missing extended-furlough inmate Sunday morning, the Department of Public Safety announced.
Troy Chung-Hoon was arrested on suspicion of second-degree escape and returned to the Hawaii Community Correctional Center. Chung-Hoon failed to check in Jan. 26 when he was scheduled to meet with his case manager at the Hale Nani Reintegration Center in Hilo. The 35-year-old was serving time for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was a community custody inmate, the lowest custody level.
