Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton finished 14-for-21 for 183 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in the Knights’ annual spring game on Saturday.
Prior to the game, the Knights unveiled new signage on the front of Roth Tower inside Bright House Network Stadium, where UCF plays its home football games.
The Knights put up a 2017 national championship sign along with signage of their five conference titles and two New Year’s Six bowl wins.
It was the first chance to see Milton, a 2016 Mililani alumnus, play for new head coach Josh Heupel, who was hired after Scott Frost left for Nebraska following the Knights’ win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.
Milton was 9-for-13 for 144 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter and compared the offense to the one they ran last year, when they led the nation in scoring offense.
“I don’t know if we were going the fastest that we have all spring, but I do think that we go a little faster than last year,” Milton said in a press conference after the game. “I like the vertical passing part of the game. I think that’s something we can utilize with the skill guys we have and just getting our guys the ball in space kind of similar to last year. That’s really the moral of the story — just want to get our playmakers the ball.”
UCF opens its season Aug. 30 at Connecticut.
