Man on bicycle snatched cigarettes from woman, 62, in Ala Moana area, police say

Police arrested a 25-year-old man after he allegedly stole a carton of cigarettes from a 62-year-old woman in the Ala Moana area.

Police said the woman was holding the carton while sitting at a bus stop near the intersection of Keeaumoku and Makaloa streets at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The suspect was on a bicycle when he approached her and grabbed the carton.

Police she held onto it but the perpetrator overpowered her and snatched the carton away from her, causing injuries to her knees after she fell on his bicycle and onto the ground.

Police officers who were nearby immediately responded and apprehended the suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
