Man dies while diving in waters off of Kewalo Basin

A 57-year-old man has died after he went into distress while diving in waters off of Kewalo Basin over the weekend.

Positive identification is pending.

Emergency Medical Services has said the man was diving with another man described to be in his 40s when they ran into trouble in the water at about 8 a.m. Sunday.

Paramedics treated and transported the 57-year-old man to Kuakini Medical Center in critical condition where he died. EMS also treated and transported the other diver to a hospital in serious condition.

Police said there were no signs of foul play.
