Police arrested two people early Friday morning following a nearly eight-hour standoff at Helemano Military Reservation in Wahiawa.
The suspects, a 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, jumped a fence to enter the military area after leading Honolulu police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
The suspects entered a Malohi Road residence occupied by a man, his pregnant wife and their 2-year-old child. The family was able to safely leave the home. The wife was later transported to Tripler Army Medical Center after it appeared that she was starting labor, but it was a false alarm.
Honolulu police, special-services personnel and military police responded to the barricade situation and remained on scene until the suspects surrendered around 12:45 a.m.
The male suspect was arrested on suspicion of two counts of fourth-degree theft, first-degree criminal property damage, second-degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling, third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and an outstanding warrant.
The female suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling, third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and second-degree unauthorized entry into a motorized vehicle.
