Firefighters pluck 2 injured hikers from Haiku Stairs
Honolulu Fire Department rescue teams picked up two hikers at the Haiku Stairs Trail on Sunday afternoon with four units, including its Air 1 helicopter.
It was reported that two visiting males began their hike Sunday morning from the Moanalua area to access the Stairway to Hell, an abandoned stairway on the north rim of Haiku Vallley, and were on the way down when they came to the end of the stairs.
HFD rescue personnel located the hikers with Air 1 at 4:12 p.m. The two hikers were airlifted, one at a time, to Kaneohe District Park and transferred to the care of Emergency Medical Services at 5:37 p.m.
