Police are investigating an alleged carjacking that occurred in Waianae.
Police said two North Shore residents, a 32-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, were sleeping in a white 2004 Honda Pilot SUV at the end of Farrington Highway about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
They woke up to five male suspects, some with bandanas covering their faces, allegedly threatening them with an unspecified dangerous instrument. Police said the perpetrators took their vehicle with Hawaii license plate TGY907.
The suspects fled in two vehicles, including the stolen Honda Pilot. A description of the other vehicle was not immediately available.
Police said the suspects and victims are strangers. No injuries were reported.
Police have initiated a first-degree robbery investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
Man asleep holding gun charged
A 39-year-old-man has been charged after he was allegedly found passed out in a vehicle holding a firearm on Hawaii island.
Nikolaus Jason Slavik of Kailua-Kona was charged with four counts of firearm-related violations, one count of fraudulent license plates, promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree and drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance at Third Circuit Court in Kona today. Slavik’s bail has been set at $8,525.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious male near Aloha Boulevard in Ocean View around 7:21 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they observed the man later identified as Slavik passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle holding a pistol.
Police recovered the firearm. During a search of the vehicle, police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Police seek help locating woman
Hawaii island police are asking the public for help locating 67-year-old Deborah Wiley, who was last seen in the Honaunau-Napoopoo area on May 13.
She is described as 5-feet-3, 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt, jeans and gray-white tennis shoes. Police said she may also be wearing a camouflage hat.
Wiley is in need of medication and may be disoriented.
She was last seen on a private driveway on Hind Drive in Captain Cook around 5 p.m. and was headed toward the intersection of Napoopoo Road and Highway 11.
A woman matching Wiley’s description was seen walking up to Captain Cook Road A on May 16, but a search of the area failed to locate her.
Ongoing search efforts, including a canvass of area homes and businesses, air and sea searches, and a canine search have not turned up evidence of her.
