Makaha road repaving project begins Monday morning.

An extensive repaving project for various streets in Makaha is scheduled to begin Monday morning, according to city officials.

The work will be performed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and is expected to take up to 270 days, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to observe traffic controls, signs and special-duty police officers while driving through the construction area.

Divers should anticipate delays due to detours, lane and road closures, and allow extra travel time through the work areas, city officials said.

The project, part of Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s focus on improving city roads and other infrastructure, includes resurfacing and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavements; adjustment of utility manhole and covers; vehicle loop detectors; reconstruction of existing concrete curb and gutters; and installation of permanent pavement markings. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours.

Question or concerns can be directed to Grace Pacific LLC at 845-3991.
