    SUMMER CLIMBING SEASON: About 2,000 participants hiked up Mount Daisen in Tottori Prefecture June 4 to commemorate the start of the summer climbing season. This year marks the 1,300th anniversary of the founding of Daisenji temple, built on the slopes of the mountain, which rises 5,672 feet, the highest peak in the Chugoku region.
