    A hole could be seen in a metal roof after a lava explosion that injured 23 people hit a sightseeing boat today off the Big Island’s Puna coast.

    Light shone through a hole in the roof of a Lava Ocean Tours vessel this morning where a “lava bomb” smashed through earlier, off the coast of Hawaii island.

The lava tour boat Hot Spot was inside the 300-meter (328-yard) safety zone established by the U.S. Coast Guard when the so-called lava bomb hit the boat, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department. Read more
