Hawaii finished 14th in the 46th annual boys Junior America’s Cup, which ended Thursday at the Fairmont Hot Springs golf course in Anaconda, Mont.
Colorado overtook the Mexico 1 team to win the Cup with a three-day total of 622. It was led by medalist Stewart Dillon, who finished at 16-under 200.
Isaiah Kanno (72—218) was Hawaii’s top finisher, getting a share of 33rd. He was followed by Davis Lee (74—222), Jacob Torres (76—224) and Jonathan Morikawa (78—236).
The competition brings together a field of 18 teams from 12 western states, two Canadian provinces and Mexico.
The Girls Junior America’s Cup ends today in Evergreen, Colo. Hawaii’s team of Lacey Uchida, Kyung Eun Lee, Reese Guzman and Karissa Kilby is ninth, 35 shots behind first-place Mexico.
The Hawaii team opened with rounds of 240 and 225. Uchida (73—152) and Lee are in the top 25.
Registration set for Sony volunteers
Volunteer registration for the 2019 Sony Open in Hawaii is open.
Tournament week for the first full-field PGA Tour stop of the year is Jan. 7-13 at Waialae Country Club.
Volunteers are needed for admissions and will call, caddies, gallery control/marshals, parking, pro transportation, shotlink, standard bearers and the volunteer pool.
