UH considers volleyball match Sunday vs. Kansas State

The Hawaii women’s volleyball season is on hold at least until Sunday, with UH athletic officials ruling out competition Friday and Saturday in anticipation of Hurricane Lane.

This afternoon’s statement from the athletic department said a decision on the potential of a Sunday match between Hawaii and Kansas State will be made by end of business on Friday. No tentative time was given for Sunday.

The 31st Hawaiian Airlines Classic was scheduled to open Friday with No. 11 UCLA playing Kansas State and Hawaii taking on Gonzaga at the Stan Sheriff Center. UCLA and Gonzaga decided on Wednesday not to travel to Honolulu.

Kansas State, which arrived in Honolulu on Tuesday, decided to stay and and wait out the storm.
