Thanks for giving a fine sendoff to two skilled and respected journalists, sportswriter Jim Easterwood and business writer Russ Lynch (“Jim Easterwood was as colorful as those he wrote about,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 3; “Prolific newspaperman’s words shaped stories, friendships,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 5).
Much as I dread seeing friends’ obituaries, these glimpses of the work of professional newsmen hopefully will remind readers how vital it is that we have trained and dedicated people informing us of our world.
And I think both men would be chuckling at being upstaged by Maka, the Waikiki Aquarium’s monk seal whose death notice rated a headline on Page B3 (“Maka the monk seal dies of natural causes at aquarium,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 5).
I can just hear their comments at whatever Round Table they now share.
