Letter: Protect Hawaii’s museum treasures

    An Owyhee cloak and lei, at the National Museum of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. Dom Pedro I received the lei and cloak from King Kamehameha II in 1824. It’s one of the items that was destroyed in the Sept. 2 museum fire.

Let this serve as a reminder that protecting and preserving centuries of collections should not, and must not, come without cost. Read more
