The City Council finally decided to put in place penalties for building a monster home (“Council approves stricter penalties against violators of city’s building code,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 13). This has been bandied about a year already. What financial penalty will be assessed on previous non-compliant buildings? A grandfather clause should not be allowed.
City Council members Trevor Ozawa and Ikaika Anderson were “out of the room when the vote occurred.” They both should be voted out of office. It was a cowardly way to avoid manning up to vote for penalties. Do they think this won’t be remembered on Election Day in November?
Remember, Ozawa is up for re-election. I didn’t like his dismissive answers at neighborhood board meetings either. Tommy Waters, are you still around?
Ozawa can’t compare to Stanley Chang, who did get things done. Auwe.
