Maui firefighters rescued a 35-year-old woman who was clinging to a tree after she fell approximately 25 feet off a cliff edge while fishing in Haiku.

Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said firefighters responded to the east side of the Maliko Gulch shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire rescue located the victim 25 feet down a cliff and clinging to a tree with a 100-foot drop below, Yatsushiro said in a news release.

Crews rescued the woman using a rope system. Yatsushiro said she declined medical attention.
