Is it really necessary to completely close off a road for an investigation of an accident involving a death or serious injury for three hours?
Is the Honolulu Police Department not able to figure out a way to open one lane at least, when the road or highway permits? Being stuck on the highway for hours is a little ridiculous.
By no means am I questioning the need or validity of an investigation, but if closing the road is absolutely necessary, it should be closed for the shortest possible time frame.
HPD also should focus on getting traffic moving again.
Having 8-10 police cars at the scene during an investigation is a little overkill, when some officers are walking around waiting to be told what to do.
I’m sure someone in HPD can figure this out.
