Letter: Other city parks need maintenance

Mahalo to our Windward City Council member and representatives for helping facilitate a new park in our Kailua community (“Gathering place,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 3). It seems like an excellent use of underutilized land, but now I’d like to draw attention to the other parks left unkept all over our island.

Our ohana have been forced to use filthy and rundown facilities for decades, and anyone who thinks the city can care for another park is delusional. Granted, some comfort stations have been renovated recently, but if these are purportedly the best of financial times for our city, we need to see more benefits for what we already have before adding parks for dogs.
