In my opinion, Keith Hiraoka is eminently qualified to serve as a judge on the state Intermediate Court of Appeals (“Former Ige campaign manager gets plum posting,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 9).
First and foremost, the Judicial Selection Commission has deemed Judge Hiraoka to be qualified.
Second, he has a most impressive record. He graduated with distinction from the University of Hawaii with a B.A. degree, and attended Boalt Hall (now the UC Berkeley School of Law), one of the finest law schools in America. He has extensive experience as a trial attorney, is listed in “Best Lawyers in America,” and has published numerous legal articles.
Third, he is public spirited and has devoted much time to his community, volunteering as a soccer coach and referee for many years.
Fourth, growing up with Judge Hiraoka, Gov. David Ige knows that his nominee is a man of utmost integrity and will do what is right.
Fifth, Judge Hiraoka is a well-rounded individual.
Judge Hiraoka would serve the people well.
