The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified an 83-year-old man and a 5-year-old girl killed in two separate crashes on Oahu Wednesday.

Raymond Endow of Honolulu died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the Pali Highway in Nuuanu. The Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause of death is pending.

Police said a pedestrian later identified as Endow was walking across the highway in a marked crosswalk at approximately 12:24 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a white 2010 Ford pickup truck operated by a 24-year-old Honolulu man.

The pickup truck was traveling southbound at the time of the collision.

Endow sustained critical injuries and was taken to a hospital where he died.

A second deadly crash occurred a few hours later at the Aliamanu Military Reservation where a 5-year-old girl was struck by a garbage truck while riding her bicycle.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Preslee Dulaney of Honolulu.

Police said a garbage truck operated by a 30-year-old man was picking up trash bins on Naio Lane at about 3:12 p.m. As the truck was reversing out of the roadway toward Ironwood Loop, a witness saw the child later identified as Dulaney riding her bicycle out of her driveway toward the truck.

Police said the garbage truck struck her.

Dulaney was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the 54th and 55th traffic-related fatalities — 25 of which were pedestrians — on Oahu. Thirty-five traffic fatalities occurred on the island at the same time last year.
