Hawaii’s Carissa Moore lost to Courtney Conlogue in the semifinals of the Roxy Pro France on Friday in Hossegor, France.
Conlogue, of California, beat Moore 14.14 to 13.26. Conlogue beat Australia’s Macy Callaghan in the final 14.76 to 10.96.
In the quarterfinals, Moore beat fellow Hawaii surfer Malia Manuel 14.67 to 10.33. Hawaii’s Coco Ho and Tatiana Weston-Webb also lost in the quarterfinals.
In the men’s Quiksilver Pro France, which was held at the same site, Hawaii’s Sebastian Zietz lost in the quarterfinals to Brazil’s Gabriel Medina 12.44 to 10.73.
Zietz won his fourth-round heat with a 15.90.
In the final, Julian Wilson beat Ryan Callinan 15.34 to 14.23 in a matchup of Australians.
HPU volleyball outlasts Concordia
Perla Escobar had 20 kills and Cameryn Collie added 18 as the Hawaii Pacific women’s volleyball team beat Concordia 18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 on Friday at St. Andrew’s Priory gym.
Mahea Pescaia recorded 39 assists for the Sharks (6-12, 5-7 PacWest).
Riley Gill had 16 kills for the Eagles (7-14, 6-7).
Bria Beale and Evelin Solyomvari each had 15 kills and Alexandria Parisian added 14, but Hawaii Hilo fell to Biola 24-26, 25-19, 26-24, 25-19 at UHH gym.
The Vulcans fell to 12-5, 8-3 PacWest.
Christina DenBoer finished with 18 kills for the Eagles (16-5, 12-2).
