There must be another Tom Brower to have inspired a recent letter to the editor (“Brower endorsement should be rescinded,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 20). The Tom Brower we longtime residents of Waikiki know is humble, approachable, responsible and extremely diligent, in stark contrast to the other politicians who are arrogant, bombastic, pathologically ambitious and self-serving, the ones who are omnipresent before elections, and then completely invisible afterward.
Tom is our low-key, modern-day “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” who is often the only voice protecting the people of Waikiki, rather than having to depend upon the “entourages” that replace other legislators who represent only themselves and whatever lucrative special interest attracts their fancy.
Tom does not view Waikiki as a brief steppingstone to advance his career, which makes us lucky to be able to count on his tireless efforts on our behalf.
