Kauai police located the body of a 65-year-old man whose Chevy van plunged 700 feet into Waimea Canyon.
Mark Pressly of Kansas, a part-time resident of Kauai, was reported missing Thursday night. He was last seen at about 6:30 that morning in the vicinity of the Waimea Canyon lookout, police said.
Police personnel aboard the Air 1 helicopter began searching the area Friday morning and located Pressly’s van, suspended on a ledge between the Waimea Canyon and Puu Hinahina lookouts, at approximately 11 a.m. The vehicle appeared to have been driven into a restricted state park area and veered off the roadway, police said.
The case remains under investigation; however, foul play is not suspected.
