Mahalo nui, Lee Cataluna, for reminding us that we are still a good and decent people when our own president sees need as a threat and generosity as a promotional tool (“Shoes are proof that kindness prevails,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 26).
Those Dole Middle School teachers saw a need and responded with an opportunity for grace — for the kids and the entire community. And for us, today. Mahalo nui and much aloha to you, Lee, and to teachers everywhere.
