Regarding “Looking for ways to cut costs” (Star-Advertiser, Oct. 25): Will the powers-that-be finally listen to the thousands of us who have been saying, “Stop at Middle Street,” most recently advocated by Dennis Callan (“HART’s P3 plans built on unbelievable ridership numbers,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, Oct. 25)?
When we voted to allow the rail to be built, elevated rail was not mentioned. Now faced with the ghastly threat of elevated rail running along Honolulu Harbor and through the corridor of Halekauwila Street, I think it is time for all citizens, anti- and pro-rail alike, to support this perfect solution.
Bringing people into town from the west side via rail and connecting to TheBus at Middle Street, where passengers can reach city-wide destinations with integrated rail-bus fares, would truly be a win-win situation.
The rail project will be finished more quickly, less expensively, and we wonʻt be devastating the beauty of our city for generations to come.
