The intersection of Kaiolu Street and Ala Wai Boulevard in Waikiki will be closed to traffic through at least Nov. 23 while Hawaiian Electric Co. crews install 46-kilovolt electrical cables under Ala Wai Canal.
Work is planned between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., although the intersection will be closed around the clock. Access to Kaiolu Street will be from Kuhio Avenue.
HECO said parking on Kaiolu will be restricted to accommodate two-way traffic.
Pool to close for year due to repairs
Extensive repairs to the Pearl City District Park swimming pool will require its closure for nearly a year starting today, city officials said.
The repairs, which are estimated to cost $972,000, include fixing concrete spalling, re-plastering the swimming pool, re-tiling, replacing the pump room concrete deck and installing a new chain-link fence. The contract for the project was awarded to Global Specialty Contractors Inc.
Pools at Manana Neighborhood Park and Waikele Community Park will remain open.
The pool at Waipahu District Park, meanwhile, remains closed after the completion of a capital improvement project because the project uncovered an electrical problem.
