Changing Halloween to the last Saturday in October make sense to me. Because Oct. 31 falls on weekdays, the kids cannot stay up late for trick-or-treat.
Moving Halloween to a weekend would allow the children to stay up later to enjoy the day. Also, extending Halloween to a whole weekend would make it more fun for everyone.
Gov. David Ige could declare that Hawaii will celebrate Halloween on the last weekend of October. He should do so.
