It was reported that Dynamic Entertainment is proposing a Ferris wheel for the Waikiki area (“Waikiki harbor complex could face opposition,” Star-Advertiser, Nov. 17).
The company’s attorney said, ”The best model for what this could look like is Pier 57 in Seattle.”
Please remind me and many others which model rail system we were to look at in order to visualize the proposed rail for Oahu.
In Sunday’s paper, Lee Cataluna wrote about getting mongoosed in part by an observation of the mongoose in its native home, where it kills rats and never bothers domestic poultry (“When hype overpowers fact, we get mongoosed,” Star-Advertiser, Nov. 18).
This should become a standard Hawaii description for many of the projects politicians and developers have put before us.
The word “mongoosed” should be added to the dictionary as a printable way of referring to the rail; most comments I hear are four-letter words.
This is Hawaii, not Seattle. We don’t need any more mongoose in Waikiki.
