I recently decided to be a good citizen by purchasing a bus pass and trying out our bus system. With my limited knowledge, it seems excellent and the bus drivers are all very friendly and polite.
However, I would strongly urge Gov. David Ige and Mayor Kirk Caldwell to experience a bus ride both ways on Kapiolani Boulevard and feel the bone-rattling experience our tourists, kupuna and all bus riders and bus drivers have to endure because of the lack of maintenance on this busy thoroughfare. It is shocking, literally.
Our roads must be the worst in the nation. What kind of message does this send to our tourists?
Please, let us not have to wait until just before the elections in 2020, when everyone is anxious to be re-elected, to get our roads fixed. If the Democrats can’t handle it, maybe everyone should try the alternative and vote in the Republicans.
