So Mark Yasuhara thinks that the F-bombs dropped by U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono are “more respectable” than the president’s rhetoric (“Trump, GOP started adolescent rhetoric,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Nov. 27). He displays an adolescent attitude by claiming that the president and Republicans started it first. So let’s go further.
Yasuhara criticizes Christians who support Trump. He doesn’t mention the attitude displayed by President Barack Obama when he criticized Americans who “cling to their guns and religion.” Hillary Clinton telegraphed how she would treat the “basket of deplorables,” which included those who supported traditional marriage.
Democrat administrations in several states prosecuted bakers, photographers and florists maintaining just such a belief. Under Trump and the Republicans, there is now an agency to protect religious liberties.
Your letter writers need to look in the mirror where they would see the animosity they display toward Trump reflected back to them and undoubtedly poisoning their own relationships. After two years, isn’t it time to stop the adolescent posturing and self-righteousness that only injures the writer?
