Clifton T. Johnson said striking hotel workers “might have to work two jobs until they get trained and can achieve great management positions in the hotel or food industry” (“Minimum wage hike should reflect reality,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Nov. 27).
That’s fine and good, except that there aren’t that many openings for management positions in those industries. The rank-and-file will always outnumber the managers, which means that as long as the minimum wage is minimal, the majority of people will be working two jobs for a long time to come.
