A special response team from the Big Island Police Department responded to the Fern Acres Subdivision in Puna on Tuesday morning after a man with a rifle allegedly threatened a woman during a verbal dispute, refusing to allow her to leave the property.
Police received the call at around 8 a.m. The tactical team entered the property and apprehended the suspect without any resistance. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Neither suspect nor victim was injured in the incident, and the investigation is continuing. Traffic was diverted in the area for the approximately three-hour duration of the incident.
