Firefighters seek cause of cafeteria fire at Liliha elementary school

Honolulu firefighters are investigating the cause of a small fire that started today in the cafeteria of Lanakila Elementary School.

About 22 firefighters responded to the alarm at 3:59 p.m. and found black smoke coming from the upper windows of the cafeteria and all the students and staff already evacuated from the cafeteria, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Scot Seguirant.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at the school on North Kuakini Street at 4:12 p.m.

Damage from the fire was not immediately available. Sequirant said no one was hurt.
